By this ceremony performed on this day every drop of white blood is washed from your veins. You are now one of us by an old strong law and custom. ****************************************************************************** I HAVE BEEN A WARRIOR I have been a warrior and now it is over, So I know how to bear against hard times. ********************************************************************************** I AM NOT A SAVAGE I am Indian, proud of the name... Apache warrior with spirit and flame... I stand and fight with dignity...A savage I'm not, in the land of the free Say what you must with white mans words...If your heart doesn't hear, then you never really heard. So don't judge me by your own flaws.. A savage i'm not by your white mans laws In dignity I'll live on my Mother Earth...'til the last moon rises for all it's worth... I'll stand and fight if I see you're wrong... A savage I'm not, I'll stick to my song.. Our ancestors that dies, who once were long ago..... carry on im me, they live now in my soul............ So many people pass, and never say good-bye......... Then they are forgotten, it makes me want to cry.... I know there'll come a day, It's plain as it can be. I'll have to say good-bye, will you remember me?.... Written By: Yaoga Awela ************************************************************************************* I APACHE PUNKIN, I AM SPIRIT OF THE BEAR!!! I am like a Bear, I hold my hands waiting for the sun to rise. ************************************************************************************* I WAS HOME (TO MY PEOPLE) FROM: APACHE PUNKIN September 18th-20th, 1998 The Greensboro North Carolina Pow-Wow I was so happy to be around my people once again. I met many people from many tribes. I will particularly never forget the Aztecs. They were so special to me. Also never will I forget Roger, He painted my face and he wants to do my portrait. I heard the songs of my ancestors as I danced amongst their spirits. I cried upon the ground they once owned and walked on. I felt my peoples sadness as I explained my own, but at the same time, there was an unexplainable happiness to be with them. I felt so at home, for the first time in forever. I felt so real and alive and I never wanted it to end. When it did end, my heart was very heavy and tears streamed down my face,' Like a flood pouring from my eyes. As I drove away from my sacred grounds and left my people, I didn't look back. I left them standing alone, but my heart will be with them forever. I know They Know!!! I love You My Friends Of All Tribes. PUNKIN | |||||||||||||||||
